New Yellow Umbrella Artist

Jill Caya
of Jill Lauren and Scarlet Poppy
Grand Forks, ND

I love to knit and I love to shop handmade! I learned to knit 10 years ago when I was in the Peace Corps in Russia. I bought some yarn at the market and the little old lady who lived next door to me taught me to knit. I knit many scarves in Russia and when I returned I took a few classes and have been knitting ever since! I love designing new things, everything in my shop is an original design. I also love to shop for vintage items to include in my knitting, especially buttons.

All of the above photos were sourced from Jill Lauren and Scarlet Poppy.
We just got Jill's amazing creations at Yellow Umbrella today! I opened the box and squealed with delight at all of the super pretty and cozy knits! A girl even had me fetch her a hat from behind the counter so she could purchase it... it didn't even have a tag attached yet!!!! So swing by Yellow Umbrella (204 3rd Street, Bemidji MN) if you are in the area and check these lovlies out for yourself!

It was so fun working at Yellow Umbrella with my husband Jon today! Thanks to all of our amazing artists, customers, and blog readers.. you really make our day!

Spread The Love
Melanie Linder
Berks County,  PA

Spread the Love is meant to do exactly that—spread the love—one little doodle at a time. I work in a quiet, humorous sort of way that keeps me incredibly happy and humble. Starting with my trusty Sharpie or Staedtler ink-pen I doodle away and then scan and color my illustrations to perfection on my computer.

I live in Berks County, Pennsylvania with my adorable husband and sweet little dog. I spend my days making prints and also designing custom invitations for my small business, Love Your Invite. xoxoxo Melanie

All of the above photos were sourced from Spread the Love's etsy shop.

We just got Melanie's work in last week and are loving it in the shop! There are so many prints that would make great house warming and wedding gifts... you really have to come see them for yourfself (some are even printed on maple veneer for an extra special touch)

Be sure to check out Spread the Love's etsy and blog for more info and her full line of lovelies!

We also have some awesome Spread the Love veneer postcards  at Yellow Umbrella!
It would be such fun to find one in the mailbox!

Raine Design
Chelsea Thorson
Moorhead, MN

I'm an Architectural Designer who lives for the challenge of a simple design.

I am truly passionate about concrete and found materials. By day, I work as a barista, making pretty lattes. I am able to sketch at work, allowing me to constantly be creating and dreaming up the next object, Whenever I get the chance, I am tinkering away in my studio, learning all I can from the trials and errors of small-scale concrete casting, and assembling found objects to create unique wearable pieces.

We just got in a new artist(Emily Rohan) and she has the most amazing sterling and stone jewelry!
Heirloom...

EmeliaRo
My name is Emily. I am a 30 year old wife, mommy, domestic goddess, and artist. Making beautiful and unique jewelry creations is now and has for a long time been a passion of mine. I was fortunate enough to have a high school art teacher who was also a jeweler so I was able to really learn the basics of the trade from a master for free! It was something I loved but I just assumed it would always be "out of my realm of possability". I graduated high school, got married, moved away, had kids, moved back, attended an art fair, saw someone's jewelry booth... and then it hit me... "I can do this, I WANT to do this! WHY AM I NOT DOING THIS?!!??" And that was it. I ordered all my tools and supplies and created myself a jewelry-making paradise in the corner of my basement. Once I had a few things made, I ventured out into the world of "I think I'll try to sell this, gee I hope people like it!" The pieces I create are the pieces I always wished I could find in shops or at art fairs but never found. I hope you love my stuff as much as I do! I think you will...

Now Available at Yellow Umbrella!

With Remote
Nate Nolting
Bemidji MN

My artwork is the culmination of elements from my daily life, varying from the cute to bizarre. Found art, little doodles, scans and photos are frankensteined together to create an intense and alluring graphic pallet, through the use of screen printing, street art and stencils.

I really get the most satisfaction from a piece when ink is laying down on a surface for the first time. Most of my printing skill is self taught from much trial and error. Taking any idea, no matter how freakishly weird it is, into a tangible state helps me close one chapter in life and move on to another.
