So heres what we have been up to...

We have (with the help of a couple good friends) finished installing our astroturf flooring!!! Lets just say we wont be missing the worn mauve carpeting =)

Jennifer and I also gave our window displays a face lift this past week (painted and turfed)... photos to come!

Today we gave ourselves a "day off" (did'nt go into Bemidji but instead stayed home to work on product production)...it was a nice change of pace and later tonight we will meet up for a business meeting prioritizing our remaining list of tasks...

New Yellow Umbrella window displays (at night):

 Jennifer and I thought that the downtown community should get to see the feel of Yellow Umbrella and anticipate our new shop opening (date TBA) so we put together a little eye catching scene to peak interest.

Today was another full day of painting for all of us...we are so excited about the new space and seeing the space take shape is so inspiring!

Hey everyone!! Yesterday we got the keys to the New Yellow Umbrella building.......YEAH! So I thought that it would be fitting to share a sneak peek. 

We also spent a lot of time packing up the old space. 

Today Jen, Jon, Andy, the boys and I started painting the space and some of our displays. It was fun to have the kids with but there were too many fits from Emerson. He woke up earlier and went without a nap. So tomorrow he will be with Grandma. Jen and I worked on our first window display. We will post pics tomorrow.

Diy Shelving

We stopped to check out a little favorite handmade gift shop that we like in Minneapolis called I like You... but unfortunately they were closed on Monday =(

We did manage to sneak a peek through their window and see an amazing wall of wooden crates that made for a striking shelving system. We have used vintage wooden crates for adding height to our own displays, and have thought about doing a larger statement piece for quite some time...but there was something about seeing it in person that reminded us how functional and interesting the various wooden and boxes would be all grouped together in a larger installation.

Old Yellow Umbrella Location

We are so excited to get into the new space to give it the Yellow Umbrella feel. The downtown store has storefront windows, fitting rooms and real store feel to it. We have a lot of designing and planning to do in the next month. We will be blogging the transition process as it happens. So stay tuned for more updates and sneak peeks from behind the scenes of the Yellow Umbrella's relocation.
